Because of the dreadful earthquake in Chile days ago and Haiti a couple of weeks ago, the threat of quakes and their aftermath may be prowling in the back of our minds. Could an earthquake happen in any place here in our country?
Almost 200 years ago, the New Madrid quake was so powerful that caused the Mississippi River to flow backwards for quite a time and was felt hundreds of miles away throughout several states. Now imagine of what a quake of seven or eight magnitude would do in our modern and densely populated society today.

July 18, 2008 – Philippines will get 8.1 earthquake, thousands of people will die.
I’m quite terrified when I received this email from a colleague at work. Since it is directed to the place where I’m working at. I’d rather share this to all. Just a warning letter but there’s nothing to lose if you read this and share with your friends and love ones. I don’t know how authentic this letter but let’s pray for God’s Kindness. IS THIS TRUE? WHAT DO YOU THINK? Here’s what I received:
July 18, 2008 – Philippines will get 8.1 earthquake, thousands of people will die.
PLS. LET US BE ALERT AND MARK THIS DATE JULY 18, 2008, FRIDAY. LETS BE PREPARED, AND LET US ALL PRAY THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN TO US.
IF POSSIBLE: PLS. DONT GO TO WORK ESPECIALLY THOSE WITH OFFICE LOCATED IN HIGH PLACES, BUILDINGS, CONDOS AND MALLS.
NOTHING TO LOSE IN THIS KIND OF REMINDER. MAYBE, THIS IS GODS WAY TO SAVE YOU, YOUR FAMILY , YOUR FRIENDS AND YOUR OFFICEMATES OR LESSEN CASUALTIES.
