June 11, 2009- I’m not really into politics but it’s good to peek sometimes to what’s happening in the world of Philippine government. I just find politics not a pleasing topic for me. But let me share my viewpoints just for this time.

I’ve met Senator Mar Roxas face-to-face when we had some casual discussions in Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf in IT Park, Lahug with my fellow Cebu Bloggers (CBS). The meet-up was made possible with our fellow blogger, Kevin, who is a number one supporter of the senator. We all know that Roxas is running this 2010 presidential election. An hour of coffee talk with him may not be enough but at least we get the chance to ask him some questions. During the conversations, I managed to take notes and let me share them to you.

Senator’s introductory words stressed on giving quality education for all Filipinos, teach savings to the masses, giving of capital to start a livelihood, easy access to healthcare to all pinoys, cheaper medicines for everyone and of course, the use of manpower (physical efforts and intelligence) in the different industries.

Specifically in Cebu, the senator’s great contribution is bringing up of Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) companies that focused on IT and call center industry. He is also responsible in the exports and furniture industry of the province.

He believes that the number 1 problem out of the many issues the country is facing is Graft and Corruption.

One of the group asked Roxas on his top 3 Political agenda but he definitely gave out 4!

1. Food/Feeding resources- he mainly wants to focus on agriculture. Producing our own food (rice) for Pinoys and not just importing it from other countries which would save an ample amount of tariffs/taxes. He stressed on giving farmers quality seeds to grow.
2. Investing in the Future- a good investment is having all pinoys to get a good education. He pointed out to add another year in primary education (7th grade). Most of the countries are having 12 grades as their primary education and the Philippines is just only until grade six. This change might be gradual.
3. Fairness and Justice- the country needs a good judicial process in all things. Each people’s rights must be valued. Corruption is what keeping justice in the country so slow!
4. Economy- hopes for a balance supply and demand of consumable goods for all pinoys.

There you go, Senator Mar Roxas is an aspirant in the presidency seat this 2010. Mentioned above are his top agenda. So far, I got it first-hand from him. I haven’t heard of the other aspirants yet. I think, they should come to Cebu and meet up with the bloggers? I will be deciding later on whom to vote
