Three Cebu Bloggers responded to the invitation to witness the Goodyear Autocare Launch (EBR-SN TIRE PLAZA) at Maguikay Road, Mandaue City,Cebu in August 28, 2008. Present were McBilly, Winston and X.

We arrived in the location at near 12 nn. Upon arrival, Ms. Karla Tecson of Ogilvyl Public Relations Worldwide along with Ms. Bessie of Goodyear Philippines, Inc. assisted us to the registration right at the entrance, the luncheon then followed. Just a perfect timing for the bloggers. Definitely, a Bon Appetit for us!

Goodyear Autocare, EBR-SN Tire Plaza Hi-Performance Center (a subsidiary company of EBR Marketing Corporation) is owned and managed by Mr. Ernesto Blanco Rizarri who also engaged in various retail and service businesses in Ormoc City, Leyte. This is the site of the first Goodyear Autocare High-Performance Center in the Philippines, offering a complete line of automotive services. Goodyear expanded their Servitek network in Cebu thru Mr. Rizarri in 1990 and later in 1993 in Ormoc city.

Two leading companies, Shell Global lubricants (worldwide technical leader in lubricant products application technology) and Bosch (a premiere specialist in diagnostic equipment and accessories) tied-up as regional partners with Goodyear (one of the world’s largest tire companies and leader in tire and tire technology). Ms. Emi Nazara, Shell Lubricants Account Manager delivered a speech showing their team’s partnership with Goodyear after the luncheon.

“In parting, we hope that this regional partnership with Goodyear continues, and rest assured that Shell Lubricants will continue to support you in any way we can”-Ms. Nazara.

Mr. JP Tuason of Tuason Racing School gave his support as well as one proud advocate of Goodyear tires. Their business line includes karting, circuit cars, formula cars, responsible motoring, racing championship and corporate events. He also mentioned visiting schools to educate students especially those who are starting to drive their own car on “safety and responsible driving”. He stressed that “Quality is what they offer” and is proud to have clients from Malaysia, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Dubai who just came to enroll in their racing school.

Along the said event is the introduction of the annual nationwide search for the Bayani ng Kalsada 2008 that is open to all Filipino drivers that show an exemplary good deed to their fellowmen on the road. It is one way to promote and inspire drivers in their responsibility to safety and good road driving practices. Goodyear recognizes these simple acts to those deserving Filipino drivers in giving them honor for such heroic deed. Anyone can be nominated as “Tsuper Pinoy” ! They may come from transport associations, car clubs, drivers of public utility vehicles (jeepney, taxi, bus, FX, Vans), trucks and private car owners.

What are the prizes?

* The contest will have four categories: public utility jeepney drivers, taxi / FX drivers, commercial truck / bus drivers and private drivers.

* Each winner will receive P30,000 cash prize, P500,000 worth of personal accident insurance, peso card pre-loaded with P10,000 cash, P3,000 worth of training certificate, Revicon Forte gift pack, food cart worth P10,000, as well as a Bayani ng Kalsada special jacket and trophy.

* The third party who submitted an entry / nomination that would be named a finalist will also get a special prize.

“Now, we are taking this to the next level as consumers are becoming more discerning in the maintenance of their vehicles. As such, there is a need for us to continue to take the lead in providing them the best service possible,” Morin said.

Morin also highlighted their concern for road and environmental safety to all. Promoted the Bayani Ng Kalsada 2008 in recognizing unsung heroes on the road and even gave a specific example of a great deed, i.e., simply returning a left item of a passenger in a taxi is an act of honesty worth to be publicly honored.

Together with the local Press people of Cebu, the Cebu Bloggers Society (CBS) was their to attend that special event and to all to Goodyear advocates, and to those who are doubting, the right choice of tire is within your reach!
