Mama MIA
Watch the trailer
Me and a close friend went to see MAMA MIA after we dined for our team mates’ treat for pizzas! We’ve long been waiting for this movie. The trailer shows that it’s a very entertaining movie but still clueless on what it has to offer. Fortunately, it’s our last day of work and we ought to give ourselves some eye-candies after a busy week! All I can say for the movie as a whole, very IMPRESSIVE! And Meryl Streep (Donna), is one diva. She deserves another OSCAR for this!
I never thought that MAMA MIA is a musical movie. Actually, it’s a musical, comedy, romantic production in one! It features the songs of the hit group ABBA in the 70’s. You should invite your parents who were in this time might be crazy over ABBA’s hits. I’m sure the memories would flash back if they hear the songs in this movie. I personally love those hits.
The story of the movie, MAMA MIA, revolves around a soon-to-be bride, 20-year-old girl, Sophie (Amanda Seyfried), who is crazy finding out her real father using ABBA’s hit songs. Her quest in finding her real father is been a lifetime dream for her until the time she decides to marry Sky (Dominic Cooper). She wants her real dad at least walk her down the aisle. Her mother, Donna (Meryl Streep), never told her on the whereabouts of her father until she found her diary getting lustful quick relationships with 3 men in one night, and did some “dot, dot, dot” (a sexual line in the movie) thing, that’s how she was made! And the confusion starts there! Clueless which winning sperm impregnated her mother! Donna, left home away from her threatening mother and started to build a life while carrying her baby. Sophie got an idea, she wrote a letter invitation to these 3 men to her wedding without her mom’s knowledge. The character men (potential fathers of Sophie) in the movie are portrayed by Pierce Brosnan (Sam Carmichael), Colin Firth (Harry Bright) and Stellan Skarsgår (Bill). It’s directed by Phyllida Lloyd and written by a British playwright, Catherine Johnson.
Note: the story doesn’t relate to any personal life of the ABBA group.

MAMA MIA is filmed in the Greek islands of Skopelos and Skiathos. It has exclusive takes in the Agios Ioannis Chapel, Corfu, Greece. The set production is really Greek. The picturesque places shown in the movie will make you feel romantic. It’s as if the gods and goddesses brought you there to find and feel love. But some of the sets are filmed on the 007 stage at Pinewood Studios where lighting and temperature could be controlled.
This is one musical movie that I won’t forget. I should see this again for a million times. Mama Mia is a fantastic movie adaptation and let the ABBA hit songs live forever in our hearts and memories.

I was never into ABBA music if it was in my generation. I loved the Dancing Queen. I hope your parents can watch it too. They will remember their youthful exuberance!

@Noemi: My parents are living in a nearby island of Negros in Dumaguete and I’m working here in CEBU. I gave them a phone call and they soon will be watching it. Thanks for returning a reply.
