Sexy Spooky Treat
Before the clock strikes 12 midnight on October 31st, major cities around the world will start the Halloween party! This is a tradition that is celebrated way back in the nineteenth century of course to countries like Great Britain, United States and Ireland. And now in almost all inhabited nooks on earth, this is a special day to be in the Underworld (where the dead have their dominion). But here in the Philippines, not quite a big deal. As for my childhood life, I haven’t experienced those traditional Halloween activities such as Trick-or-treating, Halloween Party on disco (gimmick bars), or movie marathon of horror films! My hometown in Dumaguete City is not just into it (still doubting in my end). Nor there is a house halloween party that I’m invited to. Maybe it does exist in my place but I’m just innocently clueless about it! (LOL) What I know for sure is that my religious third world country is into the All Saints’ and Souls’ day cemetery activities. This means, visiting to our love ones’ graveyards to lit a candle and offer flowers, house worship with a food feast galore after the family praying service. Ways to commemorate their “has been” life here in this mundane planet of solitaire!

I’m just glad that in this time of my life (I’m in my mid-twenties), we have Halloween parties at work. Dressing our workstations and even drooling ourselves to look like ghosts, ghouls, zombies, witches, goblins, creatures of the underworld, etc. are simply new personal experiences. It’s now a big deal for me! We will be having the traditional kid’s Trick-or-treating for our fellow workmates who have kids (of course). A site-sponsored Spooky night concept contest to dress our workplace. And a chill-out Underworld party (the highlight)! This custom is sort of a way to remember that death is a never ending issue to all living human race! One thing that makes the day unique are the decors that adorn the festive horror day! The pumpkins’ or turnips’ carvings. Symbols that would remind me that Halloween is in the air! Well, we don’t have those stuff in the Philippines, I think, a squash or a watermelon would do as well (LOL). But I’m referring to those jack-o’-lanterns and orange pumpkin cotainers in shopping malls.
So now, I’m featuring bloggers who have entries about this event (Halloween) or any thing related to it. I recommend you read their thoughts about it as well. On the row are Angelic Mom, Apples-pie, Marde, Sassy Lawyer, Queer Chef and Marvelous Things.
